A portion of the proceeds from Alexandria’s annual Winter Blues Fest will go to the Mazza Museum at the University of Findlay. The Mazza Museum will use the money towards its Mallett Operating Endowment to help fund educational programming at the museum.
The Mazza Museum’s goal is to promote literacy and enrich the lives of all people through the art of children’s literature.
At 7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 12, and Saturday, Feb. 13 Alexandria’s restaurant will be having a Winter Blues Fest featuring live music, brews, delicious jambalaya and more.
Local musicians of The Millstream Mojo Blues Band will be opening for the event both nights. The Millstream Mojo Blues Band is a group of seasoned Findlay Ohio players “laying it down with grit, spit, and a heaping helping of soul”. The band members include Greg Neat on vocals, congas and harmonicas; Gerald Natal on guitar and vocals; Reg Routson on drums; Zach Barger on bass guitar and vocals; and Dave Dudley on the keyboard.
On Friday night there will be a mix of blues, jazz, reggae and more by The Garrett Band. Josh Garrett, a Louisiana singer, songwriter, and guitar player, is known as a “triple threat” blues man, with a winning combination of a “unique Cajun flavor” guitar work, soulful vocals, and a killer band.
On Saturday, Ohio native RB Stone and his band will also be performing. RB Sone has 16 albums, and has traveled and performed in 32 countries in five continents. His music is said to be “a spark of inspiration revealing a gut-level dose of blues generously from the soul.”
General admissions tickets will be available at the door for $10 both Friday and Saturday. Tables of 10 can be reserved prior to the event for $150, or reserve a table for both nights for $225.
